I joined this consulting company (I'll call them Employer through the post) that offered me a work visa on October of this year they told me that they got me a project with a 3rd party vendor which sounded great. So I quit my full-time job they scheduled the flight and hotel and I was set to start on Monday but things had an unexpected turn as I was told on Monday morning that there has been a mistake and the job position was filled by the client itself.

My employer calls me and apologizes to me and telling me that it was the 3rd party vendor, that I had nothing to worry about and 3rd party vendor actually had another project set to go but somewhere else in the US. Turns out that was also a lie.

So my employer now tells me that they will sue them and for now we will start from scratch and get new interviews for a position. This gets me really depressed (travel expenses (hotel+uber to airport+flights were covered but I was paying for everything else) but theres not much to do. I get myself prepared for interviews and land a face to face interview in another state.

The thing is I get the pressure from my employer + the anxiety from what is at stake and I get too nervous on the interview and unfortunately don't get the job for that one..I have another interview but this one is also in a different state. So I fly and start to get ready for the interview and an hour before the interview one of workers from my Employer decides to call me and start telling me that I've been doing bad on past interviews and asking what approach they should take now.

This of course doesn't help me at all and I wonder why from all times this guy decided to call me when I'm getting myself ready. I get a bit nervous usually but those past weeks I was completely wrecked by everything happening and also dealing with some personal issues so at the time of the 2nd interview my mind is completely in blank but tried to do my best to answer the questions but to no avail unfortunately.

Flash-forward to today and I'm currently back in my country concentrating in reviewing material and improving my anxiety and speech skills so I had another interview that I had over Skype (this time to work directly with the client w/o including my Employer) and was confident in what to answer and thought the interview went well but that wasn't the case..got some vague feedback to improve my system skills but that wasn't enough for me so I sent a mail to the manager asking if he could provide me something more detailed on what I could improve.

Anyways sorry for the long post, my questions are what should I do with this Employer? (I'm currently applying by myself and answer some positions that they have been sending) and do you have any recommendations on how to deal with interviews?

1) Regarding this employer, it is very uncommon (at least in North America) for a company to ask a prospective future employee to move without providing relocation costs, or providing travel expenses related to interviewing etc. The fact that you are paying all the expenses out of pocket should be a red flag.

2) You should get a lawyer and see if you have grounds to sue your employer for relocation costs related to moving without the job being settled. All these jobs that were "lies" seems like a sign of someone doing something shady, and you might want to get law enforcement involved.

3) As for what you should do now, firstly drop this employer like a hot potato. They're obviously not reliable, and you should just be interviewing/applying by yourself. Next, it's hard to say whether you're underqualified without knowing how qualified you actually are. You mentioned that you should brush up on your "system skills", but without knowing what "system skills" you have, it's hard to know how accurate that advice is. Without knowing what sorts of jobs you are targeting, it's hard to say what skills to study.
